Welcome, to yet another, Things Mengel Gave ME!!!

So, my friend Mengel gave me some beers.  So far, I have earned Zero Untappd badges.  And that's not the name of a cool new Untappd badge, that means I have received none badges from these beers.  Also, they have not come storming out of the gates as stunners.  I have some pretty high hopes for the next couple though, because I have enjoyed several Saucony Creek Brewing Company beers, so why would the X Reserve Lord of Misrule be any different...

For starters, I wish I would have paid more attention when I was pouring this bottle.  It's a bottle conditioned style, with quite a bit of yeast and chunks in the bottom.  So because I didn't ease up on the pour any, it looked like this...

Like someone threw a handful of sawdust into my beer.  To answer your first three questions, "Yes, that is a Hopslam glass.  Actually, I drink a lot beer out of the Hopslam glass.  No, I don't care that it says Hopslam on it."  To answer your next few questions, "No, it wasn't actually chewy, but it had a pretty full mouthfeel and if I had another bottle, I probably wouldn't be afraid to pour it the same way."  It really just looks gross, like a thousand tadpoles swimming in root beer colored pond water.

Saucony Creek Brewing is in Kutztown.  I lived there in 2001-2002.  The apartment was on top of a Subway.  It always smelled like bread and pickles.  While I was there, I spent an indeterminable amount of time at the Kutztown Tavern/Golden Avalanche Brewing Co.  That was next to the Subway.  Their website looked exactly like this in 2002.  Their beer was always good though, and I always enjoyed the Onyx Stout.  They also had good Megatouch Machines.  I was very good at photo hunt.  It's true, ask around.

It's a shame that this fairly new brewpub wasn't in Kutztown at the time.  Because I probably would have went there quite a bit.  Especially with beers like this.  Dark fruits hide booze, nice sweetness, and Belgian yeast qualities.  I'll have to make an excuse to get back up there and check this place out.

So in summary, Mengel gave me a beer from Kutztown, brewed by an X-games athlete, and although it was very chunky, it was pretty delicious and I want more.
